🤔How can I help? What does Valley Oak SPCA need the most right now?
👉Dog & Puppy Food: Costco Kirkland Puppy food and Kirkland Adult Dog food - Chicken, Rice and vegetable formula. Other alternatives would be Purina One Puppy food or Purina One adult. We also use Purina One Healthy Weight dry food! Wet food: Pedigree pate both puppy and adult.
👉Cat & Kitten Food: Adult Cats: Costco Nutra-Nugget Cat food. Kittens: Purina Kitten Chow dry food. Wet food: Friskies Pate wet food and Kitten Fancy Feast wet food.
👉Dog and Cat Toys: We go through toys like crazy! We have many dogs who can only have TOUGH toys, we can always use more!
👉Neonatal Supplies: KMR Kitten Formula & Esbilac Puppy Formula. Kitten bottles, Miracle nipples, human baby bottles for puppies (the small MAM brand from target is great), puppy pads, heating pads, and soft baby blankets.
👉Blankets and comforters - Especially during winter! 👉Monetary donations
👉How does the dog walking program work?
🐾Our dog walking program is called Steps4Pets and here are our current rules.
🐾Dog walkers can come 7 days a week between 8:30am-11:30am and 1:30pm-4pm.
🐾Staff typically go to lunch between 11:30am-1:30pm and this is doggie nap time so please avoid this time-frame.
🐾Dog walkers are not paid… except with wet kisses, furry hugs and the joy & health of exercise for you and a pet!
🐾You do not have to call before you come (we are short-staffed and don’t have someone answering phones when we are not open).
🐾You do not have to go through volunteer orientation to walk a dog.
🐾You need to sign a waiver before walking. This will be provided at our Adoption Center.
🐾Children 6th grade - 8th need to have a parent/guardian walking with them. Teens that are freshman and above can come without parent/guardian. In order to keep all families and our dogs safe, we are asking that no small children, including children in strollers, are brought to walk dogs. We need both hands free in order to hold the leash properly (babies in backpacks are ok).
🐾 Good walking shoes are required. No sandals.
🤔How do Adoptions and Fostering work?
💓Adopters: You can look through the available animals on our website http://www.vospca.org/adoption 💓We do not offer “walk throughs” of our kennels. 💓All of our adoptions are done by appointments; walk-ins are welcome upon availability. You can schedule an adoption appointment through our website. https://www.vospca.org/appointments You will be required to submit a completed adoption application when booking an appointment. You can print an application here: http://www.vospca.org/read-me (We have applications available onsite as well)
💓For dog appointments, if you have any current dogs in the home, please bring them with you to the adoption appointment. 💓We recommend all people in the household attend the adoption appointment.
💓DOG appointment: We will bring the approved dog of your choice out to our lobby for a meet-n-greet. CAT appointment: We will escort you back to where our cats are housed to do a meet-n-greet.
💓Our staff tries their very best to match-make families with the pet that will fit best in your household. Please keep in mind that animal you may be initially interested in might not be the best fit for what you’re looking for. Scheduling an appointment or submitting an application does not guarantee an adoption of a pet. Our staff has the right to deny any application at any time if they feel that it does not meet our requirements and expectations.
Fosters: If you are applying to foster please fill out and submit the form here: http://www.vospca.org/foster
💓Please wait until you are contacted before coming to the Adoption Center.
💓Pets are fostered out according to priority: seniors, injured, sick and orphans have the greatest needs.
💓We provide supplies and all medical care for foster parents. However, you are welcome to purchase your own supplies to prevent depletion of our stock.
